Logo Fun

I have a big event coming up in the next month, and I need a good logo for print advertising. So I just made myself a new logo, and I'd love your input on it. The tree image (which I purchased, BTW, with permission for royalty-free use in marketing and such), is based on the meaning of Vanderboom, which is "from the tree". I really couldn't think of anything else that would symbolize me. :o)

Here's the print logo:

And here it is in action, watermarking a photo:

  1. I like the tree. Not sure about the brackets around photography. Makes it look like a bit of an afterthought, or unimportant. Just my opinion...

  2. :o)

The idea is that it can be customized according to the current subject... {babies}, {families}, {toddlers}, etc... Brackets on logos seem to be pretty popular in the photography market right now, so what you're suggesting didn't even occur to me, although it does make some sense.

  3. Oh, I see! Well, if you are using it that way, then it makes more sense...

  4. I LOVE the new logo. Suits your name & the company name well. Colourful, yet simple - very professional. The placement of the print underneath is also very well done.

  5. I also like it! And I love the brackets - very "hot" right now. The only thing is that I find the tree very distracting as a watermark. Is it possible to move it right to the left, maybe half off the page with your company name coming off of it to the right? That way your name is still over the person in the portrait, but you can still see it more clearly. Just a thought!

  6. I'm struggling with the watermark. The thing is that I am a member of an online forum for portrait photographers who are "in the biz", and a LOT of them have seen clients right-click-save the pictures, then print and frame them, even with a watermark! Sometimes they even say "please do not print or copy" or something blatantly obvious like that. :o) So I really want the watermark to be enough of a deterrant to keep someone from printing and framing the picture, yet subtle enough that they can still view their pictures without having the faces or important parts ruined...
